TopX International Student Exchange Scholarship
The purpose of the Scholarship is to facilitate a student enrolled at UQ in the Bachelor of Agribusiness or Bachelor of Agribusiness/Applied Science (Animal Science/Animal Production) program to undertake one semester of full time study in the United States at Texas A&M University, Texas.
International Student Exchange Scholarship
The TopX International Scholar will receive a scholarship to the value of AUD$7,500 to cover travel to and within the United States and assist with the additional costs associated with studying abroad.
Conditions associated with the Scholarship are that the TopX International Scholar will:
- Undertake a research project associated with the US beef industry;
- Provide a monthly report of their progress and their views of student life at Texas A&M;
- On his/her return to Australia, make a presentation to the TopX Executive Management team; and
- Be willing to undertake vocational work placement with TopX;
Eligibility
The International Scholar will:
- be a full time student enrolled in either the 2nd year of the Bachelor of Agribusiness degree program or the 3rd year of the B Agribusiness/B Applied Science (Animal Science/Animal Production) program;
- be able to take up the Scholarship at Texas A&M University in the Fall Semester (mid August - mid December );
- be able to meet accommodation, books and medical insurance. As an Exchange Student there are no tuition fees charged by Texas A&M University but the student must pay the normal HEC fees associated with study at the University of Queensland.
Selection Criteria and Interview
The International Scholar will be selected on the following criteria:
- strong interpersonal skills and presentation ability;
- academic performance, with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 5.00 or higher;
- a demonstrated interest in the improvement of the beef industry, and
- a high potential for professional development as a result of the exchange experience.
The International Scholar will be subject to an interview before the Selection Panel, whose decision on the successful scholar will be final.

- Two representatives of the Agribusiness Group of UQs School of Natural Rural Systems Management)
Applications
Applications for the TopX International Student Exchange Scholarship will be lodged with the Agribusiness Program Co-ordinator by the date nominated. Applications should include a resume along with a statement which outlines reasons for applying for the Scholarship, the benefits expected from the experience and why you would be a good representative of the University of Queensland, TopX and the beef industry. Suitable applicants will be short-listed for interview by the Selection Panel.
Applications for the TopX International Student Exchange Scholarship will be subject at all times to UQ policies and procedures.
